Designer Spotlight x Studio Mari

Studio Mari is a Los Angeles based jewelry studio by Mari Beltran.  Each piece is first created by Mari by hand before being cast by local artisans.  Her designs are sculptural, distinctive, and timeless.  I had the honor of photographing some of her pieces (analog and digital).

The Joan ring came to me at a very pivotal time in my life, and it has become a staple object that reminds me of my own tenacity and individuality.  The description reads:  “this ring is all about the swerve - veering off course to find new adventures.”  When I slide it onto my ring finger, I consciously take-in the act of bravery of diving into the unknown to start anew in New Mexico.  It's only fitting that Mari’s work is inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe.

The Crescent rings are incredibly versatile, and I love to wear them both together and separately.  They are inspired by the waxing and waning of the moon, and I always feel this in the feminine power they exude.

I am excited to see what Mari continues to create as her studio grows and evolves.

Designer Spotlight x Alexa de la Cruz

Alexa de la Cruz is a jewelry designer, a mother, and an awe-inspiring human.  When a photo of hers pops up on my feed, I am always lured in - to her captivating charm, her slow home life, and her journey with motherhood.  I feel like she could move mountains with her stunning beauty.  It radiates from within.  I had the pleasure of photographing the Escalón Signet Ring from her collection.  She chose a green jade for the stone, and it is such a peaceful, dreamy color.   Her jewelry is truly unique and made impeccably with acute attention to form.

Here is an excerpt from her website:  Each piece is handcrafted in Mexico City by the hands of great artisans. Inspired by organic forms and traditional Mexican silversmithing, creating sculptural, timeless pieces to be worn by the modern, sophisticated woman.

Mused: Spring Awakening

Spring came quickly this year.  Not early, but it seemed to come suddenly.  My eyes are itchy, which means things are in bloom.  I feel ready to be out in the world again -  to learn and to explore.  Here are some of my favorite items for this season with a playlist to go along.

Girlfriend Collective makes their leggings and activewear out of recycled water bottles.  The coolest part (other than saving the planet) is that their products are so soft and durable.  You can read more about their process and mission here, and browse through their goods here.

This pillow is by Brooklyn based company, Afternoonswim.  All products are ethically hand-crafted with natural fiber materials by the founder, Hanna.  Her pillows are beautiful, and she is set to launch rugs and artwork in the near future - I can't wait to see!  You can purchase the pillow shown above and browse other items on the site.

I am so in love with this bracelet by Alexa de la Cruz, as well as all of the pieces in her collection.  The jewelry is handcrafted in Mexico City by local artisans.  I have also had the pleasure of getting to know her through Instagram, and she is such a warm, kind, and lovely soul.  Shop her stunning, unique pieces here.  You will also love her personal Instagram, showcasing her impeccable taste, beautiful home, and journey with motherhood.

As you may already know, I love St. Agni, a Byron Bay based ethical and sustainable company.  I own these sandals, and I started wearing them as soon as temperatures rose in Los Angeles.  When not barefoot (I often am), I've been living in these - they are incredibly comfortable.  I love pairing them with both pants and dresses.  I also suggest browsing though their beautiful clothing.

The Bodysuit of Barcelona makes the most beautiful, simple bodysuits.  I have yet to own one, but I gush over their products every time they post on Instagram.  I love their photography and the way they capture the women wearing their clothing - they embrace the female form effortlessly.  You can browse their products here.

I have been wearing my 1930's bandana by Ozma of California nearly every day, so it felt necessary to include in this month's mused post.  They are 100% silk and hand-dyed and printed locally in Los Angeles.  All of Ozma of California's items are ethically made in Los Angeles - check out their beautiful clothing here.

I recently posted about F. Miller Skincare, and I still can't get enough of these luscious products.  Here is a note from their website:  "F. MILLER is entirely free of synthetic fragrances and colourings, harmful preservatives, sulphates, parabens, pthalates, PEG's and SLS's.  All products are formulated from the finest raw, nutrient-rich ingredients which are consciously sourced and cruelty-free."  This body oil feels especially appropriate for spring, with sweet almond oil, neroli, bergamot, and grapefruit - it's as refreshing as it is soothing.  I'm currently in the desert and slathering this on after every shower to keep my skin moisturized and happy.

Mused: Soft Fall Essentials
Mused: Soft Fall Essentials

Temperatures were very high well into Fall here in Los Angeles.  Last week we had a heat wave in the hundreds - it was maddening!  It's finally cooling off, thankfully.  I've curated objects for a soft transition to Fall (even though we are well into the season) with a playlist to go along.

This beautiful rug, sold by Jean Palmer Home, has a blend of harmonious yet moody hues for an overcast day.  I would cuddle up on the floor with some pillows and journal, to reflect from within.

A new spin on the classic Mary-Jane's, I'm obsessed with these green stunners.  Wear with tights for warmth, and you will spruce up any outfit this season.  They are by designer, Suzanne Rae, and you can buy them here.

I love brass, and I love statement earrings.  These Nandi Naya gems are simple, yet bold.  Her new website is coming soon.  In the meantime, you can shop her collaboration with Subrina Heyink.

My acupuncturist introduced me to Snow Lotus, a line of essential oils and blends.  My absolute favorite blend is "Spirit Lift."  When I feel like staying inside and being cozy but need to be out in the world, I always roll this on my wrists, neck, and a tad under my nostrils.  On the website, they list the Chinese medicine function as follows:  "nourishes heart blood and yin, clears heat and glosses the shen."  In other words, it relieves anxiety and calms the spirit - it is very grounding, yet also uplifting.  Purchase here.

Twenty One Tonnes is one of my favorite shops for sustainably crafted objects.  They have a beautifully curated selection of goods and work with artisans and family businesses.  Therefore, no two products are identical.  Shop their baskets.

I'm really excited about this new brand, Return To Sender Collective, with a line designed and made in Los Angeles.  Browse the collections on their website, including this comfy jumpsuit.

Listen while browsing - it will set the mood for a "soft Fall."
