Object & Us x The Objects: A Workshop with Paige Geffen and Anna Sheffield

Everywhere Taos

January 10th

10:30 am - 3:00 pm
108 Kit Carson Rd UNIT H Taos, NM

Join us for a day of somatic exercises, writing, meditation, and ritual creation as we explore our relationship to objects and physical surroundings in order to deepen our connection to our inner selves.

Objects are not just things. We imbue them with memory and purpose. In this collaborative workshop, Paige Geffen (Object & Us) and Anna Sheffield (The Objects) will guide participants in exploring materiality and meaning through the relationship between human and object.

Paige’s work examines the union of space and self, bridging inner and outer worlds. Through guided reflections and practices, she invites people to be the connector - of beauty and intention, aesthetic and meaning, and symbolic and somatic.

Anna, an artist and sculptor, creates objects for ritual use. Her work considers the energy of materials - how they shape and inform our daily routines, connecting us to the vast and the intimate. Read about her work here.

Engaging in relationships with our objects summons symbiosis and shifts our understanding of ‘things’, allowing them to serve as conduits to our rich inner landscapes.

Together, they will lead an immersive experience that explores:

 - The somatic relationship between body and material

 - Bridging the physical and the metaphysical

 - Creating rituals for greater intention and meaning into daily life

Through interaction, writing, and meditation, participants will be invited to engage with objects as portals to presence, connection, and ceremony.

Each participant will be gifted a bronze gemstone ritual object/altar piece from The Objects by Anna Sheffield to take home with them. Tea and snacks will be served. The price of your ticket also allows us to invite a local honorary guest artist to join for the day.

What to bring with you:

a journal, a pen and an open mind/heart

The workshop allowed me to rethink my ideas of home through time, it allowed me to unlock new memories and gave me more room to daydream. I remembered a collection of crystals in geometric shapes that my mother owned in my childhood home. I liked the weight of the objects and how the afternoon light filtered through them to create rainbow fragments on our rug. To this day, I keep a smooth crystal at my desk to remind me of the power of possibility. I had never considered my own home as a powerful indication of energy or as a floor plan of memory, until now.”
